The Fusion Reactor #67 - Se7en

Yeah, it's a movie reference. That's the closest I'm getting to the 10/31 "holiday" this year. I mean, if it's a holiday, why do I have to work? So it must not be.

The theme of this show was seven. The number seven? No, the song length - about 7 minutes. At this point the song has been given enough time to develop, but has not gone overboard into the epic territory. This show also marked the return of the Classic Jazz Track. I'm not sure why that was missing from the last few shows, but I sure was glad to have it back. I hope you were. No epic this week, we had plenty a few shows back.

So, the playlist...

KBB - The Desert of Desires 07:38
Jaco Pastorius - Kuru/Speak Like A Child 07:41

The Fusion Reactor #66 - New to Me

Thanks to the recent birthday and the kind gifts of friends and family members, I got some new (not in release dates though) music and thought I'd put together a show that spotlights some of those. I don't have the playlist ready right now, but check back soon.

This one ended up being a little bit heavier than I usually shoot for, but I think there was a nice balance between the prog and the fusion.

Frank Gambale - Salvador Once More 09:58
Adrian Belew - Beat Box Guitar 05:09

Gong - Heavy Tune 06:26

The Fusion Reactor #65: Epics

I didn't know what I was going to play for this show. It was a mystery even to me, even after the show started. I knew this much:

When I came home, there was a package there. I opened it to find the remaster of the Santana/McLaughlin classic Love, Devotion, Surrender. One thing was sure: I was going to play something from this. So I started off with the epic Let Us Go Into The House Of The Lord from that.

After that... Well, just check out the playlist:

Artist - Song (Time)
Santana & McLaughlin - Let Us Go Into The House Of The Lord (15:45)
Ajalon - On The Threshold Of Eternity (16:06)
Schleigho - Witch Hunt (14:32)
Ozric Tentacles - Tentacular Explosion (Reading Dec '85) (10:09)
Chick Corea Elektric Band - Blues For Miles (15:10)
Rush - The Necromancer (12:32)
Miles Davis - Rated X - Billy Preston (14:34)
Dave Bainbridge - The Everlasting Hills Parts 1-5 (19:36)

Epics are the essence of prog. Plus they're easy and fun to program. Personally I think it turned out great.
