The Fusion Reactor #62 - Let's Dance
After last week's torture I thought you might need something easier this week. I sure did. This time I thought it would be nice to do some "dance numbers." If you're into the whole 7/8 polka or 5/4 mambo thing, this one is for you.
In actuality, I don't see how a lot of these could be easily danced to. But that's ok! All I was going for was the name. I was also able to fit in three pairs of dances from three of my fusion favorites - Mahavishnu Orchestra, Return to Forever, and Passport. The Fusion Epic was Miles Davis, and the classic jazz cut was John Coltrane and Don Cherry, with their version of Bemsha Swing. That's the only one that doesn't specifically have "dance" in the title, but you know, it's a kind of a dance, so it all works out.

OK... your podcast is FANTASTIC... don't mean to shout but I've been having a great time loading up my iPod and blowing my head off with your podcast. I live on the other side of the planet in Sydney, Australia and it is such a pleasure to connect with you, your site and your 'cast. I've been a radio broadcaster for 15 years but have never had the opportunity to play prog, fusion and the rest - yours is the dream format - and I'm loving it!!!
How often are you 'casting?
All the best,
Stu
Wow, thanks for the kind words of encouragement. I do the show on a weekly basis, every Thursday night (for me) at 8PM Eastern. I have no idea what time that is in Australia, but there's a good chance it wouldn't be a convenient time for you to tune in and meet in the ProgPositivity chat room! Still, it's great that you can at least enjoy it in podcast form.
Thanks again,
Moses
Hey Moses -
Thanks for playing De Fenestra!

That version is from the Neal Morse "Transatlantic Demos" CD. It's interesting because the songs are different and in some cases incomplete, and Neal plays *all* the instruments. There are even little inserts thrown in with Neal talking into his recorder, leaving notes about what will happen. One of them is before Pete was even definitely in the band.
I believe you can get this from Radiant Records. I don't recall ever seeing it anywhere else.
